Get Ready for the Ultimate Showdown: APA 2025 Mega Nationals!

 

For the first time in history, the Australian Powerlifting Alliance 2025 Mega Nationals will bring together Australia’s strongest Sub-Juniors, Juniors, Masters, Special Olympics, and Equipped athletes on one stage. Spanning four massive days of competition, this event will showcase unmatched strength, skill, and determination as lifters battle for national supremacy.

Expect record-breaking performances, intense rivalries, and an electrifying atmosphere as some of the country’s best powerlifters push their limits. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the sport, the APA 2025 Mega Nationals is an event you won’t want to miss!


 

Entry Criteria

To be eligible for the APA 2025 Mega Nationals, you must:

  • Be a current APA member
  • Not be serving an anti-doping sanction
  • Meet the qualifying criteria within the designated competition window (detailed below)
  • Not be serving a suspension or under investigation for violating IPF or APA policies
  • Not be a member of another powerlifting federation
  • Fulfil the APA volunteering requirement (as outlined in the Athlete Selection & Progression Policy)

If you believe you qualify for an exemption (e.g., volunteering requirement), you must apply and receive approval before registering. Submit exemption requests to exemptions@powerliftingalliance.org.au

Qualification & Selection Process

Classic Junior Athletes

Primary Selection:

  • Top 5 ranked lifters per weight class (within the qualification window) will receive invitations.
  • Lifters must achieve the qualifying total for their weight class (see page 2 of this document).

Secondary Selection:

  • Any Junior athlete who meets the qualifying total (page 2) can enter the event once the primary selection round closes.
  • Registration remains open until capacity is reached.

Sub-Junior, Masters, Special Olympics & Equipped Athletes

  • All eligible athletes who meet the qualifying total can enter their respective Nationals event.
  • Qualification totals:
  • Lifters must qualify within the 7th May 2024 - 15th February 2025
  • Registration remains open until capacity is reached.

WEIGHT CLASS CHANGES

Lifters can qualify for Mega Nationals in:

  • The weight class they competed in when achieving the qualifying total
  • One (1) weight class above their qualifying class
  • Deadline for weight class changes: 21 days before the event.
  • The qualifying total must be met for the registered class.
