Registration for this event closes at Wed 09 Apr 2025 23:59.

If you intend to coach or handle at the 2025 Mega Nationals, you must register using this link. This pass grants access to the competition auditorium for the sessions your athletes are competing ONLY.

No cost – The APA does not charge coaches to be present on competition day.

Coach Eligibility Criteria

To be an approved coach, you must meet all of the following requirements:

✔️APA Membership – You must hold either a coach-only or lifting membership.

✔️ Valid Working with Children Check (or equivalent) – Can be a volunteer or employee check.
✔️ Completion of the SIA Anti-Doping Course

✔️Completion of an accredited coaching course

Required Documents – Must Be Uploaded

📌 Even if you have submitted these documents previously, you MUST upload them again as part of this application.

The following documents are required:

✔️ Valid Working with Children Check (or equivalent) – Can be a volunteer or employee check.
✔️ Completion of the SIA Anti-Doping Course

✔️ Completion of an accredited coaching course – Must be one of the following:

  • APA Coaching Course (you do not need to upload evidence of this)
  • APU Coaching Course
  • PA Coaching Course

✔️ A passport-style photo of yourself – This must be a clear, recent headshot suitable for identification purposes (selfie is fine)

✔️ The names of the athletes you will be coaching throughout the event and their APA member IDs

🔹 Failure to upload the required documents will result in your application being rejected, and you will not be permitted to coach at the event.

IPF Article 14

📜 All athletes, coaches, referees, and officials are required to understand and comply with IPF Article 14, which governs participation eligibility within the Australian Powerlifting Alliance (APA).

  • National-level or higher competitors, referees, coaches, and officials who compete in non-APA/non-IPF-sanctioned events (excluding unaffiliated novice competitions and spotting/loading) will be ineligible for APA and IPF National, Regional, and International competitions for 12 months.

Additional IPF Rules

Coaches must be fully aware of the IPF Technical Rulebook before competition day. This includes:

Maximum Number of Coaches per Lifter (Classic)

  • 1 athlete → Max 2 coaches (same group)
  • 2 athletes → Max 2 coaches (same group)
  • 3 athletes → Max 2 coaches (same group)
  • 3 athletes (across two groups) → Max 3 coaches
  • 4 athletes (across two groups) → Max 4 coaches (absolute maximum)

Maximum Number of Coaches per Lifter (Equipped)

  • 1 athlete → Max 2 coaches
  • 2 athletes → Max 4 coaches
  • 3 athletes → Max 5 coaches
  • 4 athletes → Max 6 coaches (absolute maximum)


Photography and Videography Restrictions

📵 Coaches are not permitted to film or take photos of the platform from the preparation area.

📹 In the warm-up area, video review can be beneficial for technical corrections. However, APA is committed to a safe sport environment, especially for minors (under 18 years). Minors must not be filmed or captured in the background when recording a lifter’s form in the warm-up area.


Final Registration Deadline – No Exceptions

🔗 All coaches must register and submit all required documents by 5 April 2025.

Coaches who have not completed their registration and submitted all required documentation by this date will not be permitted to coach at the event.

🚫 No extensions will be granted under any circumstances.
